Final Checks Academy CIC
Staff Code of Conduct Statement
Final Checks Academy CIC (FCA) is a community that embraces diversity and requires consideration, acceptance, and courtesy in all behaviours. FCA expects all staff members to show respect for one another in all aspects of their contact. Any breach of the Code of Conduct will be taken seriously and, where necessary, dealt with through the Staff Disciplinary Policy.
FCA seeks to provide a safe and supportive environment that ensures the wellbeing and best outcomes for all students and staff. The Staff Code of Conduct has been formulated in order to maintain this balance by:
- Clarifying the professional responsibility of all staff, both teaching and non-teaching;
- Providing clear advice about what constitutes illegal behaviour and what might be considered misconduct; and
- Establishing expectations of standards that all staff must maintain when carrying out academy duties or representing FCA in any circumstance.
FCA recognises that it has a duty of care towards its staff and is committed to providing a safe working environment. This guidance aims to help ensure that staff maintain the safest possible working practices, thereby safeguarding all students in their care as well as protecting themselves against accusations of improper or unprofessional conduct.
Valuing Diversity at Work
FCA seeks to promote inclusivity and values diversity. It also strives to ensure that the work environment for its staff is supportive and one where individual respect is shown to all. All members of staff and students, regardless of gender, race, ethnic background, culture, (dis)ability, sexual orientation, age, religion, socio-economic status, or any other factor, will be supported and encouraged to perform to their potential.
FCA will not tolerate direct or indirect discrimination against any person on grounds of age, disability, gender/gender reassignment, marriage/civil partnership, pregnancy/maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation, whether in recruitment, terms and conditions of employment, career progression, training, transfer, or dismissal.
It is the responsibility of all staff, in their daily actions, decisions, and behaviours, to promote these principles, comply with all relevant legislation, and ensure they do not discriminate against colleagues, students, or any other person associated with the academy.

Learner Code of Conduct Policy
Learners who do not follow the guidelines below will usually have a one-to-one meeting with their tutor and support staff to work through any issues. However, where a learner continues to breach any elements of this Code of Conduct, the disciplinary procedure will be implemented, which may result in exclusion from the academy.
Learner Expectations
Learners receive a Welcome Pack upon enrolment. One element within this pack relates to guidelines and expectations that learners should meet. They are asked to sign a declaration confirming they agree to abide by the academy’s policies and rules. Learners should adhere to the following at all times:
- Behave and speak in a way that does not offend others, e.g., avoid foul or abusive language, sexist, racist, or anti-social behaviour. Considerate behaviour within the premises or during educational visits is expected at all times.
- Adhere to the Dress/Uniform Code at all times. Any deviation (due to medical or religious reasons) must be pre-agreed by the Director of Tuition or Centre Manager. A GP letter clarifying restrictions and alternatives to be worn will be sought if on medical grounds. Learners consistently in breach of this will be dealt with according to the Disciplinary Procedure.
- Be courteous, responsible, mature, and respect the rights of others.
- Use polite and appropriate language in class and within the academy. Final Checks Academy CIC will not tolerate swearing or offensive language.
- Respect your tutor’s role as supervisor and instructor. Tutors are responsible for the classroom environment and behaviour of everyone within it. If requested by your tutor to complete any work or undertake a task, you must comply respectfully. Arguing or dismissing their authority is unacceptable and may lead to disciplinary action.
- Treat everyone with respect. Any form of bullying will be taken seriously and may lead to exclusion from the academy.
- Sign in and out (including break times) in the designated book on arrival and departure, including signing the daily register.
- Be punctual to all timetabled lessons, workshops, or other training opportunities unless absence is explained or agreed. Persistent lateness or absence will be monitored and may result in disciplinary action. It is courteous to apologise to your assessor if you are unavoidably delayed.
- Inform the Administration team if you are absent or delayed prior to your lesson.
- Learners must return promptly from breaks. Failure to do so may result in forfeiting break time or being asked to stay later to make up missed time. Learners must not walk out of class; they should speak with their tutor to advise of any problems. Learners under 18 who fail to return after a break will be a safeguarding concern, and their next of kin will be notified immediately.
- Agree with your tutor on how to catch up if you have been absent for any part of a session.
- Do not take food or drink into classrooms (still water is allowed). If no other area is available for eating during breaks, permission must be sought from your tutor, and learners must tidy away completely before lessons recommence.
- Do not use radios, MP3 players, or wear earphones anywhere on the premises.
- Smoking is discouraged. If you wish to smoke, please do so only in designated areas and at designated break times.
- Dispose of litter responsibly and in accordance with the Recycling Policy.
- Bring all necessary equipment and work materials to every lesson.
- Leave all rooms (including kitchen, toilet, and eating areas) in the condition you would wish to find them.
- Respect that course commitments take precedence over other activities during your pre-agreed lesson times. Personal appointments (doctors, dentists, etc.) should be made outside training days where possible.
- Work hard in class to the best of your ability.
- Complete work set outside lesson time.
- Meet deadlines for homework and case studies.
- Participate in and complete mandatory workshops (including tasks) on Health & Safety, Equality & Diversity, Safeguarding, E-Safety, and Wellbeing.
