Funded Courses (16–18)

Final Checks Makeup and Hair Academy works in partnership with DfE Education, supporting young people aged 16–18 who are not currently in education, training or employment to progress into the TV, Film and Fashion industries.

Associate Fee for 16–18

For students aged 16–18 enrolling on eligible training programmes, an associate fee may apply to cover essential training resources and industry development opportunities.

This can include:

  • Professional makeup and hair kits
  • Branded academy uniforms
  • Masterclasses and industry trips
  • Professional portfolio shoots
  • Wellbeing and personal development sessions
  • Access to our trainee agency
  • Guest artist workshops

Payment options may be available to help spread the cost where applicable.

If you are aged 19+ and looking to train with Final Checks Academy, we offer flexible payment options to help make your course more accessible.

Short courses and workshops may offer payment options depending on the course structure and availability.

ScreenSkills Bursaries 18yrs+

As a ScreenSkills-accredited Academy, students are able to apply for a ScreenSkills bursary towards tuition fees. This cash grant is designed to remove practical barriers to progressing within the screen industries and can support training and other skills development costs.

Eligibility – you can apply for a bursary if you:

  • Are eligible to work in the UK (you may be asked to prove this)
  • Have a UK bank account (you will be asked to prove this)
  • Are 18 years old or above (you may be asked to prove this)
  • Currently work in, or can demonstrate your intention to work in, the UK screen industries

Applications are prioritised based on a clear ambition to work long-term in the UK screen industries, course availability, and skills gap or shortage areas.

Bursary Brief – Final Checks Makeup and Hair Academy

At Final Checks Makeup and Hair Academy, we are committed to supporting talented and motivated students in pursuing their careers in the beauty industry. To help remove financial barriers, we offer bursaries in line with Department for Education (DfE) guidelines.

What is a Bursary?
A bursary is a financial award designed to help eligible students with costs related to their education, such as course materials, uniforms, travel, and other essential expenses.

Eligibility Criteria:
Bursaries are available to students who meet one or more of the following criteria, as outlined by the DfE:

  • Students aged 16 to 19 who are in care, care leavers, or receiving Income Support or Universal Credit in their own name.
  • Students facing financial hardship that could prevent them from fully participating in their course.
  • Other specific circumstances as defined by the DfE and the Academy’s bursary policy.

Application Process:

  • Interested students should visit our website for detailed information and application forms.
  • Applications can also be discussed and submitted during Enrollment Week.
  • Supporting evidence of eligibility will be required to process bursary applications.

Award and Use of Funds:
Bursary awards vary depending on individual circumstances and available funding. Funds are intended to cover essential costs such as trainee kits, uniforms, travel expenses, and other course-related materials.

Low-interest personal loans may be available through selected lenders. Always ensure repayments are affordable and read all terms carefully.

Representative example:

Borrowing £5,000 over 4 years: monthly repayment £111.51, representative 3.4% APR, interest rate 2.9% p.a. (fixed).

Prince’s Trust Development Awards

Overseas Students
