Hair and Beauty 1 Year Course (VTCT LEVEL 1)

An exciting opportunity aimed for 13y-15yrs in our Learning and Progressing course.  Those who are interested in Hair and Beauty to be able to study at an award winning academy, BAFTA endorsed and a team that can give them professional industry training, confidence building and be surrounded by professionals. Our Learning and Progression courses aim to give young people from different backgrounds an opportunity to thrive and succeed in their studies.
Who we are looking for…
  • We support young people who find that the school environment is not for them and need new experiences and need to gain vital entry qualifications for further education.
  • Practical and theory sessions will be held at Final Checks Academy.
  • Maths and English will be held at The Future Youth zone in Barking.
  • Well-being team personalised to the Level 1 students.

The aim of this unit is to develop your knowledge, understanding within the Hair and Beauty Industry. You will receive the health and safety techniques when working within a salon and clients. Have the confidence within client care and be able to recognise the skills and techniques on becoming a professional beauty and makeup trainee.

WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?

This qualification combines the full range of skills and knowledge for the learner further knowledge within the Hair and Beauty industry for clients or salon based artist.

WHY TAKE THIS COURSE?

During this unit, you will develop knowledge and understanding of the functioning of the hair and beauty industry. You will research both sectors, exploring the different types of salons, the clients that they attract, and the main treatments and services offered in hairdressing and beauty therapy. You will also research the different types of job roles, the various working patterns and the type of career opportunities available in the hair and beauty sector.

This unit is suitable for all practitioners.
For the purposes of this unit the generic term of practitioner has been used to the incorporate the following roles: Beauty therapist, Hairdresser, Make-up, Massage, Nail technician.

The Hair and Beauty is a rapidly growing profession within Salons . There are increasing career opportunities, while new demands challenge the profession to high levels of creativity and expertise.

COURSE STRUCTURE

This is a blended learning course including theory modules which learners undertake at home online and completion of theory assignments set by the tutor. The main emphasis whilst at the academy, will be on the development of the necessary practical skills.

Theoretical knowledge for each unit will be assessed via portfolios, logbooks, and written evaluations, which will test your underpinning knowledge. Practical knowledge will be assessed via hands-on assignments on your peers and or clients. Written assignments and research are also required for each unit.

Portfolios should be put together in your own private study hours, we recommend students use the days they are not attending the academy as private study days, students are welcome to use the Final Checks Makeup and Hair Academy facilities during this time. Supplementary classes and tutorials can be held for those students who need extra guidance.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

On completing the course students will be able to perform to industry expectations:

  • Have the confidence working with clients
  • have an understanding of basic health and safety regulations
  • Know how to create and complete finished manicure for your clients.
  • Understand the factors that influence the beauty industry
  • Understand the tools, equipment and products used in basic Makeup and Beauty techniques

WORK EXPERIENCE

Final Checks Academy has a track record of offering over 100 opportunities each year. Work experience is an essential element of this course, and you will be encouraged to take part in a variety of educational visits throughout the year. This will support learners build their portfolio, confidence, progress onto high level courses and employment goals.

Candidates will be expected to work independently producing research material, evidence, and assignments.
